The Federation of General Practitioners of Quebec (FMOQ) brings this to the attention of Health Minister Christian Dubé.
The reason for this lies in the proposed regulation announced by Mr Dubé in which he wants GPs to care for more vulnerable patients in order to restore the zero waiting list.
The FMOQ sent a letter to the minister on February 5 asking him to negotiate such an agreement to require doctors to care for 13,000 patients.
“We say that imposition is not the way to go. What we want is dialogue. And as I said: We will find solutions. Minister, give your teams the mandates and in two weeks this problem will be solved. “That is not the case at the moment, it is a complete rejection,” said Dr. Marc-André Amyot, President of the FMOQ, in an interview with Mario Dumont.
“Let’s eliminate the threats and work together. That’s exactly it,” he added.
Asked about it this morning, Prime Minister François Legault said the government was in negotiations with the FMOQ, “a union that wants as few restrictions as possible.”
“I think it's time for Quebecers to be supported by the GMF,” he added.
The Office of the Minister of Health also wanted to respond to the warning notice.
“One thing is certain, we will not compromise on our goal: to strengthen the first line to improve access for Quebecers.”
“The minister is following through on his plan and respecting the commitment he made to Quebecers in the spring of 2022 to increase the supply of front-line services.”
