At MWC 2023, Nokia announced three smartphones that match the brand’s “sustainable” ambitions. Here are the Nokia G22, C22 and C32. The G22 in particular is a bit more ambitious, allowing you to change your own battery, screen or charging port thanks to a partnership with iFixit.

Since working with HDM, Nokia has been trying to gradually return to the smartphone game. For a little over a year, the well-known Finnish brand has been focusing on sustainability and ecologically meant arguments.

In addition to the three new smartphones unveiled below at MWC 2023, the brand has announced that it will initiate a process to have its smartphones manufactured in Europe from 2023.

Nokia G22: like a deja vu scent

In a market that is often highlighted because of its importance in climate change, it is particularly important to clarify the question of the repairability of telephones. Because we keep the phone that pollutes the least.

With this in mind, Nokia presents the G22, a smartphone that can be repaired with very simple tools. The brand partnered with iFixit and even demonstrated how easy it is to disassemble and reassemble its phone during a press conference on a Nokia G22, swapping a battery in less than five minutes.

In addition to the battery, it is possible to replace the charging connector or the screen. In addition, the phone comes with a 100% recycled plastic back cover and offers two years of major updates and three years of monthly security patches. The guarantee is also extended to three years.

The Nokia G22 is sold in its basic configuration (4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage) from 179 euros. A version with 128GB storage is also available. The phone is available in gray and blue.

The adaptation kits for repairs cost 5 euros at iFixit. The price of the parts is 30 euros for a new battery or for a charging connector. Nokia promises that parts will be available for 5 years.
