A massive alligator is to be euthanized after biting a man on the arm while washing his hands in a murky pond.

The 25-year-old man was attacked around 11 a.m. Thursday in Sanibel, Fla., with the predator biting his right arm Thursday.

Sanibel Fire Department officials said he was able to extricate himself and called 911, with witnesses making a tourniquet for him before medics arrived.

He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries to his right forearm and his current condition is unknown.

The 25-year-old man was attacked around 11 a.m. in Sanibel, Fla., with the predator injuring his right arm and causing him to lose “a lot of blood.”

Authorities confirmed the man was from Arkansas and washed his hands in the pond before the attack.

Around 2 p.m., first responders were able to retrieve the alligator from the pond, with Florida’s Fish and Wildlife managing to capture the animal.

MANILA (AFP) – Filipino Jose Maria Sison, founder of one of the world’s oldest Maoist insurgency movements, has died at the age of 83, the Communist Party of the Philippines said on Saturday.
