Russia reports capture of village near Kharkiv

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the capture of Khryanykivka, a village near Kharkiv. The Ukrainian general staff had previously announced that the village was under artillery fire.

In autumn, Russian troops in the region suffered defeat and had to withdraw almost entirely from the area. Hrjanykivka is a few kilometers east of the Oskil River, which the Russians initially wanted to build as a new line of defense when they retreated. But then they had to back off a lot more.

The front largely ran along the Kharkiv-Luhansk regional border. They were only able to hold out in the north, which borders Russia. In the meantime, however, the Russian military had regained some of the initiative in the region and was able to report that some cities had been retaken.

Air alert in various regions

According to local authorities, air alarms were triggered in several regions of Ukraine and electricity was temporarily disconnected because of renewed air strikes and Russian rockets. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian armed forces reported the shooting down of two Russian Kalibr-type cruise missiles. These were fired from ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the direction of Ukraine. The air alert was lifted in most regions in the morning. The Russian war of aggression against the neighboring country has been going on for almost a year.
